Common Questions
What is
paint protection film?
Paint protection film is a transparent urethane film that adheres to the
gelcoat or painted surface of vulnerable areas on your vehicle, boat or
PWC. Our film is made by 3M™
(view
technical data sheet) and it is one of the most advanced
protective coating products you can apply to your vehicle, boat or PWC.
Can I
install this kit myself?
We provide instructions and online videos you can download and watch the
various pieces being installed. We also include our installation kit
with each order. It does take a little patience and usually it's
done while the boat or PWC is on the trailer so measure carefully so you
get a perfect fitting piece.
Can I
reuse this material once it's already applied?
No, Paint Protection film must be applied immediately upon being removed
from its backing. The film can not be removed and reused once applied.
Will this
product damage my paint or gelcoat?
No, of course not! This product is designed to help protect your paint
and/or gelcoat, not damage it!
Can it be
removed?
Yes. It can be removed easily without damage to the gelcoat or paint. To
remove the film, you must heat the surface to approximately 150°F while
working a corner of the film with your fingernail. Once you have enough
of the material free from the surface to hold on to, slowly pull the
film from the paint. 3M adhesive remover can easily remove any residue
if this occurs.
How hard is it to
see after it is applied?
The material is virtually invisible. The product will most likely
go un-noticed unless you point it out.
I would
like to buy this film by the foot for various places on my boat/PWC.
Yes, this is common. It works great on wakeboard towers also....or
any place you see needs protection and is a gelcoat or painted surface.
Simply add a couple of extra feet to your order and either cut it
yourself or email us and we can pre-cut it for you.
Note: This protection is not
meant for boats that sit in water full time. It is ideal for boats
or PWC that get tailored after a weekend or weeklong vacation at the
lake or river.
